At Waterville, the second-seeded Panthers came back to take the victory after trailing by 12 runs entering the bottom of the fifth inning and facing the end of the game due to the mercy rule.
Waterville, the two-time defending state champions in Class B, then scored eight runs in the fifth and five more in the sixth to take the lead.
In the fifth, Aidan Fitzgerald hit a bases-loaded single to drive in Waterville’s first run of the inning. A hit batsman, two walks, an RBI single by Kaleb Kane, a two-run single by Dan Pooler and a sacrifice fly by Alan Wood accounted for the rest of the Waterville runs.
In the sixth, the Panthers scored five runs, all with two outs, and all without a base hit.
John Bapst scored eight runs in the second inning, highlighed by Max Andrews’ three-run homer and a solo blast by Evan Pelkey. Third-seeded Bapst finishes at 13-5.
