HOW IT HAPPENED
While holding the Eagles to just one goal in each of the final three quarters, the Beacons attack had their way on the other side of the field as they scored at will.
Brooks Gay and Jacob Boothby combined for the three Husson goals. Gay, Blane Miller, and Brandon Bosse each chipped in with one assists.
Clay Arnold had a hand in almost every goal scored by UMB, as he combined for six points (2g, 4a) through the first 30 minutes.
Parker’s offensive display began early in the second quarter as he registered UMB’s fourth goal of the night to make it 4-1 at the time. He then netted the Beacons first of two-man-up goals in the frame to make it 7-1. In the third quarter, the transfer could not miss as he unloaded back-to-back goals, before netting his fifth and final with five minutes left in the quarter.
The final quarter saw five different players find the back of the cage, with Mike Mulligan recording two goals and an assist, for a career-high three points. Kroy Arnold netted the Beacons fourth man-up goal to cap-off a three-goal showing for the senior midfielder.
Between the pipes Alex Fawcett improved to 3-2 on the year after making six stops. The Beacons featured all four of their goalies, with Fawcett the only netminder to make any saves. Husson’s Matt Martin made 15 stops in the non-conference loss.
As a team, UMB outshot the Eagles 57-14 and held a 55-17 advantage in ground balls. The Beacons were 8-for-13 on clear attempts, and dominated on special teams with a 4-for-6 showing on man-up opportunities.
