AUBURNDALE, Fla. – The Husson University baseball team was defeated by the St. John Fisher (SJF) Cardinals, 13-1, at Lake Myrtle Park #7 on Thursday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

St. John Fisher (3-4) scored two runs in the top of the 1st inning. After an Allen Murphy walk, Ryan Simmons lined an RBI doubled to right field. Scott Eisenmerger followed the double with an RBI single of his own. The Cardinals held a very early 2-0 lead. In the top of the 2nd, Ryan Brown scored on a Justin Graham single. Thomas Pasquale doubled to left field scoring two more runs. SJF led 5-0 after two innings. The Cardinals added three more runs in their half of the 4th inning and one run in the 5th to grab a 9-0 lead. SJF would add four more runs before Husson (2-5) scored their run.

Conor Maguire crossed home after he had singled earlier in the 8th inning. On a David Hutchins doubleplay, Maguire scored the Eagles first run. It was the only run on the afternoon for Husson. They would lose to St. John Fisher, 13-1.

ON THE MOUND:

Cam Graham (0-1) started the game for the Eagles. The freshman went 4.0 innings, giving up 8 runs, and striking out three. Nolan Dousa, Matt P. Smith, Corey Nadeau, Dustin Smith, and Jacob Gauvin combined to finish the game. The relievers allowed five earned runs while striking out three.

Tim Geissel (1-0) got the nod for the Cardinals. The starter lasted 6.0 innings, allowed three hits, and no runs. Jared Wren and Pat Galer went the final 3.0 innings. They allowed one hit and struck out five.

OFF THE BAT – HUSSON:

Maguire recorded two hits and scored the lone run.

Stefen Strachan received his first start of the year and tallied two hits.

OFF THE BAT – ST. JOHN FISHER:

Thomas Pasquale finished with four hits and four RBI in the victory for SJF.

Simmons, Fahy, Brown, and Graham all tallied two hits on the afternoon.

The green and gold finish their spring break schedule tomorrow with a single, nine inning game against Mitchell at Chain of Lakes Park Stadium in Winter Haven, Florida. First pitch is scheduled for 9:00 am.
