Lyndon had four players finish with double-doubles in the final match of the afternoon: Stahl finished with 25 assists and 19 digs; Greene recorded a match-high 16 kills and 13 digs; McDonough registered 10 kills and 13 digs; and Murtagh finished with 10 kills and 12 digs.
Husson had three players notch double-doubles: Hembrow tallied 28 assists, 10 digs, and six kills, Woods recorded 10 kills and 17 digs, and Riley Mooers (Mount Desert, Maine) finished with 12 kills, 10 digs, and four aces.
Set 1: Errors prevented the Hornets from making much of the first set as the Eagles cruised to a 25-13 win.
Set 2: Lyndon seemed to be more focused in the second set as they made things harder for Husson but they still found themselves down 20-13. However, they used three straight points to get within two at 22-24. A kill by Mooers thwarted the Hornets, taking the set 25-22.
Set 3: The Hornets carried the momentum into the third set starting off with a 6-0 lead before building a 14-3 advantage, forcing an Eagle timeout. The Hornets refused to let the visitors back into the set, taking it convincingly 25-10.
Set 4: Lyndon kept things going in the fourth, stretching out a 10-4 lead early. Errors allowed Husson back into it as they closed the gap to 10-9. Lyndon was able to put points on the board in clusters, taking the set 25-20.
Set 5: The Hornets grabbed the first point in the deciding set but the Eagles answered with seven straight for the 7-1 lead. The Hornets cut the deficit in half for a 7-4 score but then the teams traded points a few times before a three-point burst from the hosts brought the score to 11-10 in favor of Husson. A timeout from Husson allowed them to gather themselves as they scored four straight, ending on a kill from Woods, 15-10.
