JOHNSON, Vt. – The Husson University women’s basketball team defeated Johnson State College 78-47 in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) contest on Friday night at Carter Gym.
The Eagles improve to 8-7 (7-2 NAC), while the Badgers drop to 2-12 (1-8 NAC) on the season.
The Badgers jumped out to an early 8-4 lead over the first five minutes. Husson bounced back and closed the half on an 18-5 run to take a 22-13 lead after one. Kenzie Worcester lead the Eagles with six points in the first frame.
Spear headed by Jordan Butler and Sarah Bragg off the bench, Husson rallied off 11 straight points to lead off the second and held control to take a 46-18 advantage into the break.
The teams traded points through the third, with Husson holding a slim 17-16 margin in the quarter to make their lead 63-34 going into the fourth. The starting five played the majority of the quarter and scored all except three points.
The Badgers kept pace in the fourth but were unable to overcome the early lead and fell 78-47. Barrett Campbell was the leading scoring in the fourth quarter with five points in only three minutes.
