WATERVILLE, Maine — Olivia Smith had six hits on the day and was the winning pitcher in the second game for Husson University in 9-0 and 11-5 wins over Colby College in non-conference softball on Monday at the Baseball/Softball Complex.

Game 2 by the numbers
* Bri Brochu, Smith, and Kylie Cunningham all had three hits for Husson in the nightcap. Madelyn Fowler, Chloe Gorey, Bri Bires, and Kylie Kennedy each had two hits. Fowler hit a two-run homer.

* Lolo Niemiec had two hits and scored a run to lead Colby (1-11 overall). Paige Hartnett drove in two runs, scored, and had one hit.

* Smith came in the game in the third inning to earn the victory with four strikeouts over the final five innings.

Game 2 highlights
* Colby got off to a 2-0 lead in the first inning when Wiley Holton tripled to bring in Paige Hartnett and Julia Saul.

* Morgan Coleman had a two-run double, Smith had an RBI double, and Kylie Cunningham had an RBI single to put Husson up 4-2 in the third inning.

* Madelyn Fowler’s sacrifice fly in the fourth inning brought in Bri Brochu.

* The Eagles made it 10-2 in the fifth inning thanks to the two-run homer by Fowler, a two-run single by Bri Bires, and an RBI groundout from Chloe Gorey.

* Hartnett had a two-run double for Colby in the fifth inning and Hailey Rohall had an RBI to bring in Zena Robert in the sixth.

* Fowler closed out the scoring with an RBI single to bring in Brochu.

Husson will travel to the University of Southern Maine tomorrow, April 3 for a double header. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 pm.
