SANFORD, Fla. – The Husson University baseball team was defeated by the Coe College Kohawks, 2-1, at Sanford Memorial Stadium on Wednesday morning.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Coe (3-2) scored two runs in the top of the 2nd inning. After a Jordan Kaplan single, Kyle Alvardo tripled to right center. Tyler Dralle followed the triple with a double of his own. The Kohawks held a very early 2-0 lead.
Husson (2-3) manufactured their only run of the game in bottom of the 4th. Conor Maguire reached on an error and immediately stole second base. He reached third on a pass ball. With one out, Alex Chapman grounded out to the second baseman, but it was enough to score Maguire from third. The Eagles trailed 2-1 after four innings. Unfortunately, that would be the final score of the ball game, and Coe would pick up their third win on the season.
ON THE MOUND:
Jesse Colford (0-1) went 9.0 innings for the Eagles. He gave up two runs in the second inning, struck out eight while walking none.
Alex Timp started the game for the Kohawks and earned the win. He went 5.0 innings, while allowing one run (0 earned) and struck out four. TJ Deardorff finished the game for Coe. He allowed one hit over the final four innings and struck out four.
OFF THE BAT – HUSSON:
Maguire recorded one hit and scored the lone run.
Chapman had the Eagles’ RBI.
Sam Huston went 1-2 on the day, walked, and was hit by a pitch.
OFF THE BAT – Coe:
Kaplan and Alvarado each had two hits for the Kohawks in the victory.
Dralle tallied a hit and an RBI for Coe.
