BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin College men’s soccer team bounced back from a Saturday loss to overwhelm Husson, 6-1, in a non-conference victory on Sunday afternoon.
The Polar Bears improve to 4-2-1 on the season while the Eagles fall to 2-4-2. Bowdoin improves to 9-0-0 all-time against Husson.
Bowdoin scored all six of their goals in the opening half, coasting to the victory
Ethan Ellsworth converted on the game’s first goal in the 12th minute, putting home a penalty kick to give Bowdoin a 1-0 advantage
That goal keyed a six-goal surge in a 27:34 span for Bowdoin that put the contest out of reach
Moctar Niang scored twice while Jason Oliver, Jai Kawale and Ely Spencer all found the back of the net. The goals were the first in the respective careers for Oliver and Spencer.
Husson’s Jimmy Fitzpatrick scored the lone goal of the second half for the visitors, trimming the final advantage to 6-1. It was just the second goal scored by Husson ever in its nine meetings with Bowdoin
Stevie Van Siclen stopped one shot in 36 minutes of play for Bowdoin before giving way to Noah Safian
Steven Paquette stopped seven shots for Husson.
