BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin baseball team exploded for eight runs in the first inning to cruise to an 8-1 midweek win over visiting Husson University on Wednesday.

The Polar Bears climb to 11-12 on the season. The Eagles drop to 11-14.

Game Highlights

Eric Mah tagged a leadoff double to left in the bottom of the first. Joe Gentile walked to push Mah to second and the pair each advanced on a sacrifice bunt from Colby Joncas.
Jack Wilhoite rocketed a triple down the right field line and came around to score with an error on the relay throw.
Bowdoin reloaded the bases and Austin Zakow cranked a grand slam over the fence in far right.
The Polar Bears came around to the top of the order with another runner on and this time Mah singled to left for an RBI.
The Eagles pulled Conor Maguire with one out on the board, putting in Ryan Allender, and escaped the inning.
Allender pitched another four innings for Husson, recording four strikeouts and allowing no hits.
With runners on first and second in the top of the fifth, Ethan Daigneault singled through the left side to bring in a runner.
By the Numbers

Ben Osterholtz pitched five innings for Bowdoin, allowing three hits while fanning five with a walk.
Duncan Finigan, Connor Rooney, Kyle Stanley, and Logan Simon each pitched an inning in relief. Stanley struck out one.
Maguire gave up six hits and eight runs in his start for the Eagles. Jacob Gauvin, Dustin Smith, and Nolan Dousa each pitched one inning. Gauvin and Dousa both recorded two strikeouts.
Nick Guerrette went 2-for-4 for Husson.
Mah went 2-for-3 at the plate, as did Brandon Lopez.
