At Alfond Arena in Orono, the Broncos scored three times in just over a minute late in the second period to take control against the Red Riots.
With Orono up 1-0, Matt Closson’s power-play goal with assists from Dylan Cray and Robert Stowe with 1:44 left in the second period tied the game.
Michael Ward scored 14 seconds later, assisted by Riley Eastman, and Luther Vom Eigen hit the third with 36 seconds left in the period, assisted by William Manning.
Trevor Francis tallied 24 seconds into the third period to cut Hampden’s lead to 3-2. Matt Cloutier got the assist.
Eastman scored an insurance goal, assisted by Cooper Antone, with 5:05 left to complete the scoring. Hampden goalie Ryan Manning finished with 16 saves on 18 shots.
Conor McKaig posted Orono’s first-period goal with assists from Zach Williams and Cloutier, and Michael Brown made 16 saves on 20 shots.
