At Oakland on Friday night, Hampden Academy outscored defending state Class A champion Messalonskee 41-9 in the second half to deal the Eagles their first loss since the 2015-16 season.

The Broncos had a balanced scoring attack with four players scoring in double digits, led by Marissa Gilpin’s 17 points and Bailey Donovan’s 12 points. Alydia Brillant had 11 points and Braylee Wildman finished with 10.

Messalonskee was led by Gabrielle Wener’s 12 points, Emily Parent’s five and Ally Turner’s four points.
