Bangor, Maine – Lauren Russell’s hat-trick help propel Husson to their first ever win over Gordon by a score of 4-3 in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon on the brand new turf of the Winkin Sports Complex.
Lauren Russell gave Husson (1-1) the lead one minute and 29 seconds into game with an unassisted goal before scoring her second in the 11th minute with an assist from Mikayla Toth.
The Eagles entered the intermission with a 3-0 lead after Libby Kain found the back of net on a nice pass from Toth at the 19:36 mark.
Coming out of the break, Michelle Satava put Gordon (1-1) on the board with an unassisted goal at the 39:28 mark and Alyssa Doucett cut the Husson lead to one with 8:58 remaining in the game.
Russell put the contest out of reach with her third goal of the game one minute and 13 seconds after Doucett chopped the margin to one.
Emily Allcroft scored an unassisted goal to close out the scoring for both teams.
Shannon Hicks registered nine saves in the lost. Kaitlin Dolloff made two saves to pick up her first win on the season.
The Eagles outshot the Fighting Scots 18-6 and took the advantage in penalty corners, 7-5.
Husson will host the ninth ranked team in the nation when Wellesley visits tomorrow at 12:00 p.m. in non-conference action at Winkin Sports Complex. Gordon returns to action on September 7 when they host MIT for a 6:00 p.m. non-conference game.
