Fort Kent Boys Soccer 0 at Madawaska (Awaiting score)

At Madawaska, the top-ranked Owls prevailed on a Travis Thibeault first-half goal that beat the No. 3 Warriors in an Eastern Maine Class C final.

Madawaska advanced to a 12:30 p.m. Saturday state final at Hampden Academy against Western Maine champ Maranacook of Readfield. Madawaska improved to 16-1 and Fort Kent finished at 13-4-1.

In Wednesday’s hard-fought game, Madawaska’s Jake Gendreau gathered the ball at midfield and gave Thibeault a through pass on the right side of the field and he shot the ball from about 30 yards out to beat the goalkeeper. The second half saw a back-and-forth game.

Madawaska goalkeeper Tim Deschenes made 3 saves on 3 shots and Fort Kent ‘keeper Cody Plourde made 5 saves on 6 shots.
