In Ashland on Saturday, Caitlin Paradis’s goal at 9:51 of the first half proved to be the only goal the Ashland Hornets would need in defeating the fifth-seeded Fort-Fairfield Tigers in an East Class D semifinal.
The shutout was Ashland’s ninth in succession.
Paradis’s goal was assisted by Micayla Driscoll. Ashland’s other goal was scored by freshman Morgan Doughty at the 20:21 mark of the second half.
Fort Fairfield’s Megan Jellison made 10 saves on 16 Hornet shots. Ashland’s Megan Cote was called on to make three saves on as many Tiger shots. Ashland is now 16-0 and earns a berth into the Eastern Maine final against PVHS, also 16-0. Fort Fairfield finished its season at 9-6-2.
