At Dover-Foxcroft, Forrest Law’s towering double with one out in the bottom of the eighth inning scored Cody Coiley, completing a comeback from three runs down and delivering No. 4 Foxcroft Academy a Class B prelim win over No. 13 Ellsworth.
Coiley started the rally with a ringing double into the left-field corner, his third hit of the afternoon. Law also ripped a two-out, two-run single in the fifth to score Caleb Richard and Hunter Law and knot the game at 3-3.
Ryan Rebar went the distance on the mound for the Ponies (12-5), yielding six hits and no earned runs while striking out seven and walking two.
The Eagles’ Kyle Haslam limited FA to seven hits and four earned runs over 7 1/3 innings. He fanned six hitters and walked four.
Ellsworth (6-11) scored all of its runs on Dustin Smelley’s bases-clearing double with two out in the third. Haslam added a single and a double.
The Ponies cut the lead to 3-1 in the fourth when Luke Olson singled score Coiley with two outs.
