Dexter 27 at Bucksport 28

Oct. 26, 2012, at 10:30 p.m.

At Bucksport, the fifth-seeded Tigers’ quarterfinal upset bid came up short when they missed a 40-yard field goal with 15 seconds left and the No. 4 Golden Bucks escaped with an LTC victory.

Matthew Stewart had rallied Bucksport (7-2) back into the lead in the final minutes when he threw a 60-yard touchdown pass to Josh Gray, then completed a conversion toss to Mitchell Burgess to provide the winning margin.

The game was tied 14-all in the fourth quarter after Dexter’s Andrew Levenselor peeled off a 63-yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter. Bucksport regained the lead when Jack Cyr raced 92 yards with the ensuing kickoff.

The Tigers (6-3) responded with 13 unanswered points on Trevor Fogarty’s 23-yard scoring pass to Dylan Graffam and a 34-yard TD connection with Joseph Wing that made it 27-20 Dexter.

Nick Bishop staked the hosts to a 14-0 advantage with a 2-yard TD run in the second quarter and a 1-yard scoring plunge in the third period. Gray added both PAT kicks.
