WATERVILLE, ME – The Thomas College women’s soccer team completed their 2016 season in 3-0 defeat to Colby-Sawyer on Sunday afternoon at Smith Field.

In the loss the Terriers finish at 3-12 (3-5 NAC) overall while the Chargers will move onto to the NAC Tournament at 6-2-1 (7-8-1 NAC).

Thomas opened up with early pressure in the 11th minute as back to back shots from Makenzie Carlow (Winslow, Maine / Winslow) and Emily Dufour (Waterville, Maine / Waterville) in front.  Charger keeper Sam Mitchell made two diving saves to keep the game scoreless.

Colby-Sawyer broke open the scoring in the 20th minute as Rachel Quaye sent a centering pass to Lizzie Jorgensen who beat Terrier keeper Paige Leary (Palermo, Maine / Erskine Academy) to the left side.  Seven minutes after, Maddie Chamard sent through ball to Jorgensen who walked in all alone for her second goal of the game.  With just over two minutes remaining in the first half, Chamard’s corner kick found the head of Abbie Sansoucy for a 3-0 lead at the break.

The score remained the same throughout the second half, finishing at 3-0.

Leary made ten saves in her final game as a Terrier, including her 500th career save while Mitchell stopped four shots in the victory.  Colby-Sawyer outshot Thomas 16-5 while the Terriers held a 5-4 advantage in corners.

The matchup concludes the 2016 campaign of the Terriers and the careers of Leary, Alexandra Cotter (Moultonborough, NH / Moultonborough), and manager Joanna Murch.
