The Terriers once again took an early lead in the bottom of the first. Grant Corbett (Manchester, N.H.) knocked a single to right field to bring in Pena.
The Chargers knotted the game up in the top of the third on an attempted double steal. Joey Fenuccio took off for second base, getting involved in a rundown. Avellino was able to reach home safely before the tag was made on Fenuccio, tying the game at 1-1.
In the final frame, the Terriers loaded the bases with two outs with Pena at the plate. Pena grounded to shortstop and the ball was thrown to third base for a force out. A dropped ball by the third baseman allowed Vinall to reach safely at third and allowed Darren Kelly (Foxboro, Mass.) to score to end the game at 2-1.
Chenard earned his first collegiate victory on the mound for Thomas in his first ever start, throwing all seven innings, scattering four hits and one run.
Hood was given the loss for Colby-Sawyer in 6.2 innings, allowing six hits and two runs (one earned). Avellino went 2-for-3 at the dish with a run scored.
