WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Geoff Sullivan scored with 1:32 left in regulation to help the 14th-ranked Colby College men’s hockey team to a 3-3 overtime tie with Williams College on Saturday.
The Mules, who beat Middlebury College on Friday night, went 3-0-1 against Williams and Middlebury this season. Colby is 7-4-4 overall and 6-3-3 in the NESCAC, while the Ephs are 8-5-3 and 5-2-3 in the conference.
Williams had 39-16 shot advantage in the game, but first-year goaltender Andrew Tucci stopped 36 shots for the Mules.
The Ephs had gone up 3-2 on the power play on a David Italiano goal with 5:39 left in regulation.
With the Mules putting on pressure, Sullivan was able to fire off two consecutive shots from the right side. He scored his fifth of the season and finished with two goals in the game.
Nick O’Connor scored his seventh goal of the season from Mark Leprine and Cam MacDonald for a 1-0 lead. Leprine’s shot was saved by goaltender Michael Pinios, but the rebound went to O’Connor for the goal at 16:14 of the opening period.
After a scoreless second period, the two teams combined for five goals in the final 20 minutes. Williams went up 2-1 with a pair of goals in the opening 6:44. C.J. Shugart scored on the power play at 1:49 and Roberto Cellini tallied to put his team up by one.
Sullivan tied the game for the first time at 10:54 of the period from Phil Klitirinos and Michael Rudlof. Sullivan was in front with other Colby players and was able to get a shot over the shoulder of Pinios.
