Wesleyan Men's college basketball 82 vs Colby 67

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. — The Colby College men’s basketball team was tied at halftime and had an early lead in the second half, but closed out the season with an 82-67 setback at Wesleyan University on Saturday.

Seniors Patrick Stewart and Joe Connelly each played in their final games with the Mules (10-14 overall, 1-9 NESCAC).

Sam Jefferson was 5-for-10 from 3-point range on the way to 17 points, six rebounds, four assists, and two blocked shots. Connelly was 4-for-6 on his threes and finished with 12 points. Alex Dorion, Stewart, and Sean Gilmore all had 11 points for the Mules.

Stewart finished 24th all-time in scoring with 1,134 points. He also had 587 rebounds, 182 made 3-point shots, and 69 blocked shots. Stewart led the nation in 3-point field goal percentage last year.

Tied 33-33 at halftime, Connelly nailed a three to put the Mules up for the last time at 36-33. Wesleyan had a 21-8 scoring run to go up 54-44 with 12:02 to play. The Cardinals increased the lead to 21 points with 6:01 to play.

Colby took 45 shots from 3-point range and made 16, while Wesleyan had a 42-30 rebounding advantage.
