BIDDEFORD, Maine — Eleven different players scored for No.19 Colby College in a 16-4 women’s lacrosse result versus the University of New England on Monday evening (Mar. 19) at the Big Blue Turf.
The nationally-ranked Mules (2-3) led 8-0 at the midway break, and extended the cushion from 10-3 in the closing 20 minutes.
Lyla Jones (McLean, Va.) had four points to pace Colby. McGara DeWan (Glen Rock, N.J.) matched the three-goal effort by Jones while collecting five draws and five ground balls. Emma Banks (North Haven, Conn.) contributed two goals, and both Amelia Lubrano (Hanover, N.H.) and Grace Langmuir (Providence, R.I.) recorded two points.
Kelsey Bowen (Braintree, Mass.) also grabbed five draw controls for the visitors, who claimed 16 of 21 in the match. Hannah Marino (Peabody, Mass.) logged seven saves to get the goalkeeping decision in her first start.
For UNE (3-3), Maritza Nary (Dover, N.H.) posted a career-high 19 saves, which included stops on eight free-position attempts by Colby. The Nor’easters received goals from Jolena Lampron (Lyman, Maine), Anna Stowell (Sutton, N.H.), Molly Camelo (Melrose, Mass.), and Keara Dwyer (Cazenovia, N.Y.); Lampron paired hers with a game-best three caused turnovers, and Camelo led the squad with five ground balls.
Big Blue returns to action on Wednesday (4 p.m.) hosting Bridgewater State University.
