DARTMOUTH, Mass. — Ainsley Burns made the all-tournament team for the Colby College women’s basketball team after the Mules fell 68-43 to 18th-ranked University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth in the title game of the UMass-Dartmouth Tournament on Saturday.
The Mules drop to 1-1 overall heading into Tuesday’s home opener against Thomas College at 5:30 p.m. The Corsairs improved to 2-0.
By the numbers
Burns had six points and four rebounds, while Emily Davis tied for game-high rebounding honors with 11. Sarah Hancock led all Colby scorers with nine points on 2-for-2 shooting and a 5-for-6 effort from the foul line.
* Alicia Kutil had 22 points and nine rebounds, while UMD teammate Nakira Examond added 20 points and 11 boards.
How it happened
* The Corsairs, an NCAA tourney team last year, led 19-1 after the opening quarter and 29-8 at intermission. The Mules settled down and scored 35 points in the second half.
* UMD, with Colby’s Haley Driscoll in foul trouble, was able to go inside. The Corsairs had a 46-35 advantage on the boards.
