|Colby College||University of New England|
BIDDEFORD, Maine – Cam Clouse converted a penalty kick in the 6th minute to lift Colby College past the University of New England, 1-0, in a men’s soccer match Wednesday evening (Sept. 20) at Barbara J. Hazard Field.
Following a hand ball in the box, Clouse ripped one into the upper left corner for the game’s only tally.
Colby had an excellent opportunity to get some insurance towards the end, but after the initial shot hit the crossbar, the rebound try was cleared out of danger by UNE’s Jeremy Longchamp.
Avery Gibson and Dan Carlson each played a half between the pipes for the Mules (2-2-1), but the lone save for the visitors came when Garrett Dickey prevented a UNE blast from crossing the line in the 29th minute.
Will Shearon made six saves for the Nor’easters (1-7), who return to Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action Saturday (3:30 p.m.) at Eastern Nazarene College.
