Trinity Men's college basketball 65 vs Colby 56

HARTFORD, Conn. — Ethan Schlager finished with a game-high 16 points for the Colby College men’s basketball team, but Trinity College had a big first half on the way to a 65-56 victory on Friday in NESCAC play.

Colby drops to 7-8 overall and 0-4 in the league heading into Saturday’s 3 p.m. game at Amherst College. Trinity moved to 11-6 overall and 3-1 in the conference.
Schlager was 6-for-8 from the field and 4-of-5 from long range. Joe Connelly was 5-for-5 from the foul line for seven points, while Sam Jefferson led in assists with three. Patrick Stewart had six points and six rebounds.
Eric Gendron paced the Bantams with 15 points and Ed Ogundeko finished with 14 points and seven rebounds.
Colby opened the game with a layup from Stewart to take a 2-0 lead, but did not score again until the 10:15 mark in the first half. Trinity darted out to a 20-2 lead and led 40-19 at halftime.
With the Mules trailing 58-37, Colby went on a 10-0 scoring run to cut the margin to 11 points with 5:54 remaining. The Mules also trailed by 11 (65-54) after Devaughn Riley nailed a 3-point shot with 53 seconds left.
