HARTFORD, Conn. — The Colby College women’s soccer team scored just 1:16 into the second half to get back in the game, but the Mules could not get another goal in a 3-1 loss to Trinity College in New England Small College Athletic Conference play Saturday.
The Mules (2-3 overall, 0-3 overall) trailed 3-0 at halftime, yet had a chance to get back in the contest when Emily Martin scored off an assist from Laura Arnold.
The Bantams had a 16-5 shot advantage and an 8-0 margin in corner kicks. Sam Rizzo made fives saves in goal for Colby. The Mules had all five of their shots on goal and forced Julia Pitino to make four saves.
Taylor Kirchgessner scored her third of the season to put the Bantams up 1-0 at 12:25 of the opening half.
Kirchgessner then assisted on the third goal of the year for Laura Nee at 26:47 for a 2-0 margin. Sarah Connors scored aboutsix minutes later for Trinity’s final score.
