Bates scored two runs in the first inning and added runs in the second, fourth and fifth innings in support of first-year pitcher Kirsten Pelletier, who notched her first NESCAC victory in a complete-game effort. Pelletier (5-6) scattered four hits and five walks in allowing two runs and striking out seven Mules.
Julia Saul (3-8) went six innings for Colby, allowing all five runs on six hits and three walks with four strikeouts.
Julia Panepinto and Maddie Inlow drew walks in the first inning and advanced to second and third on Tori Fitzgerald’s groundout. Treadwell then doubled against the center-field fence to score both Bobcats for a 2-0 lead.
Woolmington made it 3-0 in the second, leading off with a double to left center, moving to second on Sam Fellers’ sacrifice bunt and scoring on a wild pitch.
Colby got a run back in the third, as Kate McLaughlin led off with a single, stole second, reached third on a groundout and scored on a wild pitch.
Treadwell and Woolmington struck again in the fourth, as Treadwell laced her second double of the game to left field. She reached third on a wild pitch before scoring on Woolmington’s single to left.
Bates added an insurance run in the fifth, as Andrea Russo led off with a single, stole second and third bases and scored on Panepinto’s groundout.
Colby scored a second run in the top of the seventh. Vanessa Warshaw hit a one-out pinch double to left center. Emily Dougherty returned to the game to run for Warshaw, and she scored from third on a delayed double-steal, after Carly Swartz (walk) was thrown out at second to start the play.
Woolmington batted 3-3 in the game while Treadwell was 2-3 with two doubles and two RBIs, combining for five of Bates’ six hits.
