By David Utterback, Special to the BDN

At Old Town, freshman DJ Monteith delivered a game winning RBI single in the bottom of the ninth inning to score David Wilcox from third as the Coyotes outlasted Caribou in game one of a doubleheader.

Old Town had taken a two run lead into the Vikings’ half of the seventh inning, but Caribou scratched two runs across to send the game to extra innings. Mike Selander singled and Sean Sadler scored on an error and a single by Caleb Chapman to tie the game.

Matt Curry went all nine innings for the Vikings, allowing seven hits and striking out eight. Gabe Melmed picked up the win in relief of Garvey Melmed.

David Wilcox homered for the Coyotes with Cameron Archer hitting a two-run triple to put the Coyotes ahead in the sixth inning.
