Brunswick Boys Soccer 0 at Hampden Acad. 1

By Pete Warner, BDN Staff

At Hampden, John Meehan scored on a Cameron Libbey assist midway through the first half as the fourth-ranked Broncos defeated No. 5 Brunswick for the second time this season.

Libbey gained control in the middle of the field and chipped a pass ahead to Meehan, who dribbled the ball past the last Brunswick defender leaving him one-on-one with Dragons’ goalie Greg Walton.

Meehan went to his right, then shot the ball back to his left past Walton for the game’s lone goal.

Hampden (11-3-1) then focused on defense, with sophomore Jake Maltz marking Brunswick standout forward Connor Scarponi.

Logan Poirier earned the shutout in goal for Hampden, saving all seven shots he faced.

Walton made three saves on four shots for 7-4-4 Brunswick.
