Brewer 26 at Waterville 21

WATERVILLE — The Brewer Witches scored 20 unanswered fourth-quarter points, including a 65-yard touchdown pass from Logan Rogerson to Spencer Valley with 1.6 seconds left, to beat the Waterville Panthers 26-21 in high school football action Saturday.

In an exciting fourth quarter, Brewer’s Dillon Smith scored a touchdown on a 5-yard run to cut Waterville’s lead to 21-12. A 4-yard touchdown run by Brody Valley and a successful point after touchdown brought Brewer within 21-19.

Freshman quarterback Rogerson would finish 15-of-25 passing for 225 yards and a touchdown for Brewer. Spencer Valley would lead the receiving core with six catches for 126 yards and a touchdown. Brody Valley was the leading rusher in the game with 22 carries for 85 yards and two touchdowns.

Waterville would score first on a 1-yard touchdown run by Derek LeChance. A 9-yard touchdown pass from Aiden Fitzgerald to Jordan Levine gave Waterville the 14-0 lead after the first quarter.

In the second quarter, Brody Valley would score his first touchdown of the game on a 4-yard run, but an unsuccessful point after touchdown left the score at 14-6. Waterville would answer with a 17-yard TD run by David Bailey for a 21-6 halftime lead.

There was no scoring in the third quarter before Brewer took over in the fourth.

Bailey was the leading rusher for Waterville with 70 yards on eight carries.
