WALTHAM, Mass. – The Bowdoin baseball team picked up a 5-2 win at Brandeis on Tuesday evening to collected the team’s first victory on New England soil.
The Polar Bears suffered four losses after returning from Florida, but climb to 7-12 after defeating the Judges (1-14).
The Polar Bears put up their final four runs in the top of the fourth to take a 5-0 lead. Sean Mullaney tallied an RBI sacrifice fly to center that drove in Colby Joncas. Cody Todesco tagged a two-out RBI triple down the right field line and Brandon Lopez immediately followed up with an RBI infield single. Evann Dumont-LaPointe rounded out the inning with a chip to shortstop that ultamtely allowed Lopez to score.
The Judges got a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth, cutting the lead to 5-2, but were unable to mount the comeback. With the bases loaded, Dan O’Leary pushed a run across the plate as he wore a pitch and Ryan Tettemer walked in the team’s second run.
The Bowdoin bullpen combined for seven strikeouts, two walks, and four hits.
Lopez went 3-for-4 at the plate. Both Joncas and Mullaney were 2-for-3.
