MEDFORD, Mass. – The Bowdoin baseball team surrendered six runs in both games against Tufts on Saturday afternoon to fall in the series doubleheader.
The Polar Bears (11-14, 3-5 NESCAC) fell 6-1 in the opener and couldn’t complete the comeback in a 6-5 game two. Tufts improves to 21-4-1 (6-2 NESCAC).
Game One Highlights
The Jumbos went up 3-0 in the bottom of the first. Mike McLaughlin doubled to left center and drove in a pair of runs. Harry Brown lofted a sacrifice fly to left and drove in a third.
Bowdoin cut into Tufts lead, making it 3-1, in the top of the second. Evann Dumont-LaPointe drove in Colby Joncas with a single to left. The run stood as the lone tally for Bowdoin.
The hosts added two runs in the bottom half of the inning. Oscar Kutch recorded an RBI double and Tommy O’Hara had a run producing single to right.
O’Hara capped the game with a solo homerun to right in the fourth.
Brandon Lopez surrendered seven hits and five runs in 2.2 innings of work. Speros Varinos went all seven innings for Tufts and allowed five hits while collecting 11 strikeouts.
