AUBURNDALE, Fla. – The Bowdoin baseball team dropped a pair of games to Salve Regina on Tuesdayafternoon, allowing a seventh inning rally for a 4-3 loss in game one and a 9-0 shutout in game two.
The Polar Bears fall to 1-3 on the young season. The Seahawks climb to 5-1.
Salve Regina took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first off an RBI single by Zack Smith.
Bowdoin responded with runs in the third, fourth, and fifth innings to take a 3-1 lead. Sean Mullaney tagged an RBI single, scoring Cody Todesco, to put Bowdoin on the board. Jack Wilhoite drove in Connor Lee in the following inning to give the Polar Bears their first lead of the game.
Todesco scored on wild pitch in the fifth inning to extend Bowdoin’s lead to 3-1 before the Seahawks cut the deficit to one off an RBI single in the bottom of the sixth.
Smith drove in a pair of runs with a single up the middle in the seventh to give Salve Regina the win.
Lee and Todesco both tallied doubles in the game, while Wilhoite led the team going 2-for-3.
