ANGOR, Maine – The Bowdoin men’s soccer team used a pair of second half goals to post a 2-0 midweek win at Husson University on Tuesday evening.
The Polar Bears (2-1-0) return to the win column and secure their second shutout of the season. The Eagles fall to 1-2 on the year.
Despite dominating the opening half, the Polar Bears were unable to produce any promising scoring opportunities.
With under three minutes remaining in the first, Husson had its best look of the frame. Following a Bowdoin foul just outside the box, Rod Ghanayem launched a free kick towards the top left corner, but clipped the crossbar causing the ball to soar over.
Bowdoin took the lead just 3:28 into the second half. Ethan Ellsworth capitalized on a free kick on the left side. Ellsworth fired off a high arcing shot that curved over the Husson goaltender and slipped in below the crossbar.
Bowdoin outshot the Eagles by a 14-6 margin and held a 6-3 edge in corner kicks.
Stevie Van Siclen made a pair of saves for his second shutout of the season.
Cody Gross had five stops for Husson.
