HARTFORD, Conn. — The Bates women’s soccer team got out-shot 24-7 on their way to a 4-0 loss to the Trinity College Bantams Saturday afternoon.

Trinity (5-1-2, 3-1 NESCAC) spread their goals out fairly evenly, scoring in the 26th minute, the 33rd minute, the 63rd minute and the 81st minute.

Junior goalkeeper Sarah McCarthy made nine saves in just under 80 minutes in goal for the Bobcats (2-6-1, 0-5-1 NESCAC).

Trinity kept the shots coming and they finally found the back of the net thanks to a corner kick. At the 25:32 mark, the Bantams earned a corner and Kendra Lena delivered a perfect ball that Sheena Landy headed to Sarah Connors. Connors finished off the sequence with her second goal of the year.

Down 1-0, Bates got a couple of shot attempts off but both missed wide before Trinity scored again at the 32:50 mark. Taylor Kirchgessner connected with Grace Chalmers who tallied the goal to put the Bantams up 2-0.

Bates recorded two more shots before the break but one missed high and the other missed wide.

In the second half, the Bantams recorded the first three shots, with the third one finding the back of the net when Laura Nee found Nicole Stauffer for her first goal of the season.

The only shots on goal Bates recorded belonged to first-year Sarah DiPillo who forced Trinity keeper Julia Pitino to make saves in the 64th minute and the 67th minute respectively.

Tori Dunn scored the final goal of the match at the 80:47 mark, with an assist from Grace Chalmers.
