The Eagles hopped on the board in the second inning where 3B Ryan Rebar sent a triple deep to the fence in centerfield, then was driven home on a groundout RBI from CF Christian Corneil, to give Husson a 1-0 lead.

Bates looked poised to take the lead in the third inning with CF Ryan McCarthy and LF John Dinucci both in scoring position with no outs, but Husson was able to escape the jam without giving up any runs.

Husson used a big 5th inning to lock the game up with what would prove to be the game winning run. Singles from C Sam Huston and CF Christian Corneil got the team off to a hot start. With no outs on the board, DH Luke Covey delivered a 2-RBI double to bring both runners home. The Eagles continued to capitalize on the momentum, with a bunt single from 2B Logan Rogerson advancing Covey to third where he was brought home on an RBI single from RF Cam Archer, giving the Eagles a 4-0 lead. LF Conor McGuire then laid down a sacrifice bunt to move both Rogerson and Archer into scoring position, but Bates P Andrew Freeman was able to work his way out of the inning without giving up another run.

Husson would add one more run in the 6th inning on an RBI single from Covey. C Sam Huston recorded his second single of the day, then stole second base to move into scoring position, where Covey subsequently drove him in for his third RBI on the day.

Bates made a late push in the top of the 9th inning on a home run from pinch hitter Daniel Trulli. The push proved to be too little too late, however, as the Eagles were able to hold on for a 5-1 win.

P Ryan Allender threw a gem of a game for the Eagles, going for seven innings with five strikeouts, no runs surrendered, and only three hits given up to the Bobcats. P Dustin Smith came in to throw one inning for Husson, recording no walks, strikeouts, or earned runs, and P Steven Hanscom earned the save for the Eagles after pitching the ninth inning, striking out one batter and giving up one run.

Bates starting pitcher Nolan Collins gave up six hits and four earned runs in the loss for the Bobcats. Collins also struck out five batters and walked one in his four innings of work.
