WATERVILLE, Maine – The Bates baseball team remained perfect in league play by completing the series sweep of Bowdoin on Saturday afternoon at Colby.

The Bobcats improve to 10-5 (6-0 NESCAC) after capturing a 4-3 victory in game one and 6-3 win in game two. The Polar Bears slide to 6-12 (0-3 NESCAC).

Game Two Highlights

Bates jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the second inning. Sylvia put the Bobcats on the board with a long triple to right-center that drove in a pair of runs. Carter later drove in Sylvia with a single.

Gentile put Bowdoin on the board in the bottom of the third, burying a triple in the leftfield corner and driving in Sadler.

The Polar Bears evened the game in the fifth with a pair of RBI doubles from Sadler and Lopez.

The Bobcats regained the lead in the sixth, stringing together several base hits to put runners in scoring position. MacDonald and McCarthy both drove in runs with singles and Carter sent a sacrifice fly to left that capped the scoring.

Anthony Telesca pitched five innings for the Bobcats and allowed five hits with three strikeouts and a pair of walks.

Sylvia went 3-for-3 with a pair of RBIs to lead Bates.
