At Portland, Joe Fitzpatrick scored all five of his team’s touchdowns and finished with 254 rushing yards on 24 carries as top-ranked Cheverus rolled by No. 4 Bangor in the Eastern Maine Class A semifinal.
Cheverus, now 9-0, advanced to a 12:30 p.m. Saturday final against No. 2 Portland (8-1). Bangor, which lost to Cheverus 49-7 earlier this season, finished at 5-5.
The Stags battled to a 16-0 first-half lead and then opened the second half by scoring on its first two possessions, including a 32-yard run by Fitzpatrick for his fourth touchdown.
Bangor moved the ball well twice in the second quarter, surging to the Cheverus 15 on one and to its 12 on another, but the Stags held the first time and intercepted a pass to end the second drive.
