Ashland Girls Soccer at Penobscot Valley 2

At Howland, after two scoreless overtimes, freshman goalkeeper Sami Ireland stopped 3 of 4 penalty kicks to secure the victory for No. 3 Penobscot Valley in the Eastern Maine Class D quarterfinal.

Morgan Roy, Molly McGinn and Arianna McKinnon converted kicks to give PVHS the win.

Ashland took a 1-0 lead with 26 minutes left in the first half on a goal by Savannah Flint. The Howlers tied the game on a Bethany Heald penalty kick with 32 minutes left in the second half.

Ireland finished with 9 saves on 12 shots for the 13-1-1 Howlers. Macie Bellanceau made 5 saves on 10 shots as No. 6 Ashland finishes at 10-6.
