Researchers at the University of Maine are looking for research study participants. The youth and parent/guardian would come to the University campus for approximately 1.5 hours and answer questions about the youth’s emotions, including level of anxiety about interacting with other kids. The youth would engage in a brief interaction task (via video conference) with same-age but unknown peers in which they talk about what they like about school. Youth who participate in the study will be screened for high levels of anxiety surrounding social situations and given a list of resources for getting treatment for such anxiety, though those both with and without anxiety are welcome to participate.
