Artist Workshop

February 22nd, 200 Lord Hall at 10:30 am

Led by transdisciplinary artist Ilana Boltvinik

The purpose of this workshop is to explore possibilities for engaging art in public spaces. We will deal with the different dimensions and scales that operate in this space as to grant a more complex and critical view of the potentials that art has to alter, transform, construct and generate dialogue in public space.

We are not interested in underlining what the outcome for art in public space is, but rather dialoguing, learning, sharing and interchanging ideas on how art could be the most effective when immersed in a space that has many variables, magnitudes, that is uncertain and constantly changing.

This process will include walks in public space inspired on the Situationist International drifts (dérive), as well as ethnographic techniques and observation based compilation of spatial and temporal aspects of urbanism, distribution, persons and objects (lines, nodes, crosses). The idea is to combine subjective and objective knowledge and studies that can permit a deeper engagement with public space.
