ELLSWORTH: Woodlawn is pleased to have Gerry Estabrook lead a Basketry workshop on Friday, June 15, from 9 am until noon.
In this hands-on workshop, participants will learn the basics of basketry while making their own berry basket. Styles of baskets and types of materials will be discussed. Once you know how to weave your basket, you will have the skills to create baskets for years to come. The cost to attend the workshop scheduled on Friday, June 15, from 9 am until noon, is $45 for Woodlawn members/$55 for non-members. Participants are asked to bring scissors or small snips, a round and dull butter knife, a knitting needle (pencil size or less), and a towel. As space is limited, pre-registrations are required by calling Woodlawn at 667-8671. Gerry Estabrook from Red Osier Basketry, has been selling his own baskets at Woodlawn’s Farmers’ Market every Sunday, from 11 am to 2 pm.
Woodlawn is an educational, cultural, and recreational treasure for the people of Downeast ME. The main house opens for tours May 1st through October 31st.
