WINTHROP, Maine — The Winthrop Lakes Region Chamber of Commerce will hold its breakfast meeting 7:30-8:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, at the Winthrop Area Federal Union. A light breakfast will be provided at 7:15 a.m.
The meeting will feature the area’s newly elected legislators. State Sen. Patrick Flood and Maine Rep. Craig Hickman, both of Winthrop, will discuss what they see as the greatest challenges and opportunities in the upcoming legislative session, and present their strategies for addressing and working through political divisiveness, balancing the budget and more.
Flood is serving his first term representing Senate District 21 in the Maine Legislature, and plans to sponsor legislation to provide more funding for services for the most severely impaired people in the state.
Hickman is serving his first term representing House District 82. He will work on legislation that makes locally produced food more accessible to residents of rural towns.
The cost to attend the meeting is $5 at the door. The meeting is open to the public. Reservations are not required.
