Unity, Maine – March 6, 2012 – Unity College will host the seventh annual sportsmen’s conference and wild game dinner at the Unity College Center for the Performing Arts (UCCPA), 42 Depot Street in Unity, on Friday, April 12. Appetizers will begin at 4:15 p.m. with dinner served at 5:00 p.m.
Ticket prices are $30 for regular seating and $40 for VIP tickets. Holders of VIP tickets will enjoy access to preferred seating in a more intimate setting and two bottles of wine per table. Art work by wood carvers, wildlife sculptors and nature photographers will be on display during the event in the UCCPA Art Gallery.
Appetizers for the wild game dinner will be served in the Art Gallery and include beaver, moose, deer, wild boar, and elk.
The main dinner is a five course meal served with salad and bread.
All proceeds benefit Maine’s Operation Game Thief and the Maine Wardens Association in Memory of Major Greg Sanborn, and Get Back Outdoors, an organization that creates hunting and fishing opportunities for wounded veterans.
“This event has become a regional tradition that is attended by broad spectrum of individuals including hunters and the non-hunting public,” noted Joe Saltalamachia ’95, Senior Associate Director of Admissions and Advisor to Unity’s award winning archery club. “The majority of individuals who attend are non-hunters who see this event as their annual opportunity to experience the uncommon quality of fresh wild game.”
“The quality of our appetizers and entrées is superb, comparable the level one would expect to enjoy at some of Maine’s finest restaurants,” noted Saltalamachia. “It’s a culinary delight not to be missed.”
The chef for the event is Unity College Student Center Manager and Catering Chef Charlie Krause, a 1973 graduate of the Culinary Institute of America. He has held executive positions at some of America’s finest restaurants.
The event was recently featured in Portland Magazine and has been listed among Maine’s top 20 “must do” events by the Bangor Daily News. It has also been profiled in other publications
