Inspirational performer Tony Melendez is returning to Aroostook County for a performance at the Caribou Performing Arts Center on Sunday, May 6, 2012 at 2:00 p.m.
Tony, a thalidomide baby who was born without arms, learned how to play guitar with his feet. He first gained notoriety performing for Pope John Paul II in Los Angeles in 1987. The Pope hailed Tony as a “courageous young man,” and told him, “my wish to you is to continue giving this hope to all the people.” Since that day, Tony has toured the world spreading his inspirational story and sharing his musical talents, including performances in Aroostook County 20 years ago, in 1992.
