Learn timber framing basics in a hands-on setting where participants will experience the entire process from felling the trees to the finished product. Timber framing will be taught by Bob Lear, who has 24 years of timber framing experience. On the first day, students will go into the woods and help select and harvest trees under the guidance of a professional forester and HVNC’s woodlot managers. Logs will be taken by small scale low impact equipment to a portable bandsaw mill located at the workshop site and operated by Richard Hatch. During the next three days the workshop will teach basic joinery options and will provide hands-on experience while building a small shed.
