WARREN, Maine — The Georges River Land Trust announced the first of 16 special events in its second season of Revelry for the River, 2013’s reprise of the 2012 celebration of trust’s 25th anniversary. The event, Private Tour of Lie-Nielsen Toolworks, is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14. Snow date is Wednesday, Jan. 16, in Warren.

Host and owner Tom Lie-Nielson will discuss the history of the company and lead participants in a tour of the manufacturing process, including casting, milling and assembly. Attendees will have the opportunity to see the detail and craftsmanship that goes into producing the heirloom tools. After the tour, participants will enjoy wine and cheese in the classroom where skilled staff will demonstrate practical uses of hand planes and answer woodworking questions.

The tour is limited to 20 participants, and the cost is $35 for trust members, $45 others. Tickets must be purchased in advance at www.georgesriver.org/revelry or by calling 207-594-5166.
