FORT KENT, Maine — The University of Maine at Fort Kent will host Maine Poet Laureate Wesley McNair with his new initiative, “The Maine Poetry Express” at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, in the Nadeau Hall teleconference room.
The event will begin with presentations by McNair and Allagash writer Cathie Pelletier, and will conclude with Don Levesque, former editor of the St. John Valley Times; Dave Hobbins, UMFK professor of Forest Technology; Joanne Zafonte, music director at St. Louis Church; Katie Levesque, a UMFK student; and Monica Pettengill Jerkins, editor for the Fiddlehead Focus, who all will read two poems they admire, explaining why they chose them and what the poems mean to them personally.
The presentation, sponsored by the Maine Writers and Publishers Alliance and the Maine Humanities Council, is free.
