The Unitarian Universalist Society of Bangor is hosting a community forum on the Affordable Care Act in conjunction with the Waldo Community Action Partners on October 12 from 10 to 11:30 am. WCAP has been chosen as “Navigator” for the Maine Health Care Marketplace for Waldo County. Its job is to educate individuals, businesses, and institutions in the county about their options and responsibilities under the Affordable Care Act. This will extend the conversation to Penobscot County and the greater Bangor area in UUSB’s continuing efforts to provide educational programs to the community at large.

Leading the community forum will be Bjorn Streubel of WCAP who has been trained to lead this effort. He will cover the facts of the law as it now stands, how individuals will be affected, and the mechanisms put in place to facilitate informed participation in the process of purchasing health insurance.

The goal of this presentation is to make you better informed how the ACA will affect you. In coming months, such presentations will be made to many business, community, and civic organizations. This community forum will provide you the opportunity to be among the first to

learn about the health insurance options available through the Affordable Care Act. The open enrollment period will run from October 1 through March 31.

Though the presumed target population of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) is the uninsured and underinsured, the information presented will be useful for everyone.

The community forum will take place at UUSB, 120 Park St, Bangor, ME. All are invited to attend. Please feel free to bring a colleague or a friend. It is free and open to the public.
