PORTLAND, Maine — Parents: bring your children for Teensy Weensy Acting Class at the Children’s Museum & Theatre of Maine. Class No. 3 of a four-class session will be held Wednesday, Jan. 23. What’s Teensy Weensy Acting Class? A literacy and creative development program for ages 3-5. Over a period of four weeks, young actors dive into a story, processing it with imagination, puppetry, music and dance. At the end of the last class, young actors put on a show for their parents. This is an excellent opportunity for pre-school age children to work as a group, become storytellers and give acting a try. This winter, our Teensy Weensy classes will explore books by children’s book illustrator and author Janell Cannon, best known for her award-winning book Stellaluna, Cannon strives to make unlovable creatures loveable. Sign up for just this session (prices below), or register for all the Teensy Weensy Classes January to March for a 15 percent discount.

Session 1: Stellaluna. Next two classes are Jan. 23 and 30. Stellaluna, a baby bat, is separated from her bat family and is raised by a family of birds. We’ll make bat wings, learn about fruit bats and imagine what life is like for little Stellaluna when she’s finally reunited with her mother. Parents, family and friends are invited to an 11 a.m. show on Jan. 30. To register call 828-1234 x231, visit or stop by the front desk.

Session 1 $60. for members / $75. for non-members.
