Elmer Savage began farming in Union in 1985 along with his parents. In 2000 he and Holly purchased the 95-acre farm from his parents and began planning for the future. The farm’s blueberry fields offered great potential, and to add to their farm products they began to explore making blueberry wine. This led them to think about other types of wine, and in 2002 they planted the first two acres of their vineyard. The vineyard has since expanded to nearly four acres with ten varieties of grapes. Their winemaking grew from hobby level to small scale commercial production and 2012 marked their eighth vintage.
The Savages invite guests to their vineyard for a unique wine tasting experience. After a tour of the vineyard, grapes from their own vines will be sampled followed by the wine made using that grape or blend of grapes. The wine tasting will be enhanced by delicious hors d’oeuvres from The Badger Café and Pub in Union.
